Man Allegedly Breaks Into Girlfriend's House

Newport Police reported the following arrests on Thursday Dec. 12. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Richard Smith, 34, of 293 Oxford St., Providence was arrested Wednesday at 11:10 a.m. on a felony breaking and entering charge and two misdemeanor charges of domestic vandalism and larceny. He allegedly kicked-in the door of his girlfriend’s house on Ranger Road. Police said there was damaged furniture knocked over around the living room. The victim said the couple got into an argument the night before because she would not give him money. An officer reported Smith was at Festival Field apartments, where he was found and arrested.  

Other Arrests

  • Scott Herrmann, 54, of 4 Farewell St. Apt. 521 was arrested Wednesday around 5 p.m. for a bench warrant. An officer recognized Herrmann on Broadway. He allegedly swore and yelled at the officer in the cruiser and during processing.
