Fight Breaks Out After Group Allegedly Yells Racial Slurs
Arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Two men were arrested after a fight broke out on Memorial Boulevard around 3:22 Tuesday morning
Jamal Blanc, 21, of unknown address in Newport and Shea Vages, 19, of an unknown address in Newport were both charged with simple assault. Blanc allegedly hit a 17-year-old female causing a swollen, bruised eye and Vages allegedly struck a 21-year-old man.
Blanc reportedly told police it started after the group yelled racial slurs at the men.

“Yea, I pushed her into the tree, they came at me,” Blanc told police. He then asked, "Why would I call the police?"
