Caregiver Allegedly Steals Money From Elderly Woman

The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A 30-year-old Newport woman was arrested after she allegedly made $6,500 unauthorized transactions with a debit card belonging to a 79-year-old Jamestown woman under her care.

Victoria Dubay, of 486 Broadway Apt. #1, was charged by the Middletown Police Department with a felony fraudulent use of credit cards and a bench warrant out of the Second District Court on Jan. 7.

Dubay worked for All About Home Care and was assigned to take care of an elderly woman from Jamestown, said police.

Police said the woman gave Dubay her pin number on March 9, 2013 because she was unable to push the buttons on the ATM. Dubay allegedly made several unauthorized withdrawals throughout the month in Middletown.

Dubay allegedly told police she had permission to use her debit and credit cards.  The ATM video confirmed Dubay was the individual who withdrew the missing funds, said police.
