Brothers Charged for Breaking and Entering, Gun Theft

Two brothers were charged with breaking and entering and stealing firearms on Wednesday.

Dillon R. Adams, 20, and Martin T. Adams, 23, both of Newport, was arrested on breaking and entering and larceny of firearms charges. Dillon Adams was also charged with marijuana possession.

Police were dispatched to a Rolling Green apartment for a breaking and entering report. The woman who lived there said the apartment had been broken into and the door had been pried open.

According to reports, an antique gun, a safe with three firearms inside, a safe with ammunition and assorted jewelry had been taken from the home.

The woman's fiance said he believed the brothers had been the ones who had broken in. Neighbors told police they had seen two men in the hallway that day. One of them was identified by tattoos on his face.

When police located the suspects, Dillon Adams said he had made a mistake, and that he had broken in the apartment. Martin Adams denied being involved.

Dillon Adams told police he had used a crow bar to pry the door open. He led police to a Bayview Avenue home where they located the stolen items in a backpack in the attic.
