Body Found Outside Brenton Road Home

Newport police are awaiting notification of next of kin and positive identification of the body before releasing further details. The incident remains under investigation.

Newport police were called to a Brenton Road residence around 11 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a dead body near the font door. Officials are not releasing the victim's identity pending notification of family members. 

The victim is a white male in his 50s, according to police. Members of the Newport Fire Department declared the man deceased on-scene. He was reportedly dressed in light clothing.

Emergency crews were called to the same address Tuesday night around 8:15 p.m. for a report of a person who was reportedly wandering around disoriented, according to officials. Police and fire officials responded but did not detain the individual. 

Foul play is not suspected.

The incident is under investigation by the Newport Police Department. Patch will provide more details as they are made available.
