Arrest Log: Student Charged with Assault, Men Chased by Attacker

The following arrest information was provided by Newport Police. It does not indicate a conviction.

DOMESTIC
Newport Police charged Mychal Andrew Gillooly, 25, of 17 Cranston Ave., Newport, with domestic disorderly conduct March 22 at 2:28 a.m.

FELONY ASSAULT
Newport Police charged Raysawn Spates, 18, of 11.5 Newport Ave., Newport, with felony assault with a dangerous weapon on Tuesday for his alleged role in an attack on two men waking down the street on March 20.

Police said Spates was riding in a car when he hopped out and demanded cash from two men who were walking on Maple Avenue.

Spates allegedly flashed a knife during the confrontation.

A fight ensued and Spates allegedly punched  one victim in the head.

The two men took off on foot, but Spates and another man caught up with them a short time later on John Chafee Boulevard. The fight continued inside the foyer of the building at 59 John Chaffee Blvd. before the two victims were let into an apartment by an unnamed person, prompting Spates to flee the scene.

Police identified Spates as a suspect and caught up with him on Tuesday at about 7:39 p.m., where they found him sitting in the Bridge Liquors parking lot.

NO LICENSE
Police charged Stefon Douglas Jenkins, 22, no address specified, with a Superior Court bench warrant and driving with a suspended license after he allegedly drove into the back of a minivan parked on Ranger Road on Monday.

Police said Jenkins told them he had no drivers license.

Police said the minivan suffered major damage and the impact forced the minivan to crash into a truck parked in front of it on Ranger Road.

ASSAULT
A 17-year-old Rogers High School Student was charged with simple assault for allegedly punching another student in the head.

Police said they were dispatched to the school at around 7:38 a.m. Tuesday morning for a report of an assault.

Police said the suspect was a female who was upset about what another female said about her during a communication.

The juvenile was transported to police headquarters and booked before being released to the custody of a parent.

The matter will be adjudicated in Family Court.

DOMESTIC
Newport Police charged Davene D. Williams, 27, of 187 Montgomery St., Providence, with domestic simple assault March 24 at 10:53 p.m.

Police said Williams assaulted a person on March 21 in a Park Holm parking lot.
