What Should Go Here: Andrews Liquors

If you could fill the space, what would you use it as?

Earlier this year, petitioned to move from this small shop on Broadway to J.T. Connell Highway.

Despite a last April between the liquor store and the Little League, Andrews Liquors has moved locations, leaving behind this empty storefront.

The space is currently for lease.

What do you think should go here? Leave your suggestions in the comments.

About this column: We'll periodically post a picture of a empty storefront or vacant building around Newport. It's up to you to tell us what should be there!

What should go there is a big sign telling everyone where Andrews Liquors has moved to. (Behind Hill Mart on Connell Highway.)

How about stepping back and understanding what the city could do to make it easier for any small business to get started. What the landlord might do to make it work and what neighbors could do to buy locally instead of at the big box. Given the seasonal nature of part our our economy and the struggle any small business has to make it, it really will take a village to get it done.

Hey Joe was a maverick around here....first to carry Pabst in bottles before all the hipsters started drinking Pabst....now at least we have Schlitz tall boys until they clue into that...darned hipsters and their hipsterness.

Low income housing units WITH tall boy SCHLITZ !! (something tells me this is going to be a short-lived feature.) Yknow though...a block down in the span of about 8 years Ive seen at least 3 different owners try to run a convenience store....its something of a black hole over there so yeh maybe housing is the answer.....or Schlitz....or housing.....both perhaps. :]
