Obituary: Gloria J. Mitchell, 65, Worked at Aquidneck Medical Center

Gloria J. (Reynolds) Mitchell, 65, of Newport, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of Maurice J. Mitchell.

Born in Newport, RI on October 30, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Allene (Silvia) Reynolds.

Gloria worked for over 30 years at the Aquidneck Medical Center. She always enjoyed time around the kids especially hosting family get-togethers on the weekends. Gloria’s generous spirit will be missed by many; she was quick to help family and strangers alike.

Besides her husband of 45 years, she is survived by her sons, Christopher Mitchell of Bristow, VA and Maurice J. Mitchell Jr. of Newport, RI, her foster children Shaylynn Nazario and Anthony Nazario; three grandchildren, Austin Mitchell, Hope Mitchell and Dean Mitchell. She also leaves her brothers, Fred Reynolds and his wife Barbara of Gloucester, MA, Edward Reynolds of Newport, RI, Alfred Reynolds of Hope Valley, RI, her sister Pamela Marshall and her husband Edward of Middletown, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

She was the sister of the late Donald Reynolds and Kenneth Reynolds.

Her service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 1:00pm, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
