Local Volunteers Raising Money For Sick Children

Stephanie Frazier Grimm of Newport has launched a campaign to build party supply kits for children hospitalized over their birthdays.

A Newport woman has launched a fundraising campaign to build supply party starter kits for children who spend their birthdays in the hospital.

The organization, which has applied for a 501c3 status and has been recognized as a charitable foundation by the state, is called “The Confetti Foundations.”

“I started this foundation in hopes that families would for 30 minutes of their child's sickness, just stop and celebrate,” wrote Stephanie Frazier Grimm on the GoFundMe.com page.  “It is not a cure, but a small distraction to be reminded that every child deserves to be celebrated.”

Each box costs $22 to produce and 100 percent of the money is allocated towards supplies, she added.  Volunteers assemble the birthday supply boxes.

The team calls themselves “birthday fairies” and have partnered with Hasbro Children’s Hospital to distribute the boxes to local hospitals.
