Secret Garden Tours of Newport (Fall Tour 2013)

The 29th annual Secret Garden Tours of
Newport will be held on Friday, September 6, Saturday, September 7 and Sunday,
September 8, 10AM to 5PM each day. This tour is an excursion of Newport, Rhode
Island’s historic Bellevue Avenue and Ocean Drive areas. Just steps away from
the famed Cliff Walk, The Secret Garden Tours include access to private grounds
that are usually closed to guests in this distinguished section of town. See breath-taking gardens, awe inspiring
views, magnificent landscapes, pools, fountains, waterfronts and so much more.

Continuing Myra Duvally’s tradition since 1984, the
organizers and supporters of The Secret Garden Tours of Newport have been
dedicated to enhancing art education and cultural programs in Aquidneck
Island's public schools, funding dozens of programs in music, theater and fine
arts for local schoolchildren. To date, The Secret Garden Tours have given more
than $1 million to Aquidneck Island students in public schools for art,
music, theater and other cultural programming.

Tickets can be purchased at www.secretgardentours.org
(Via PayPal) or order by phone at (401) 439-7253. Advance sale tickets are $20.
On the days of the tour, tickets may be purchased for $25 (cash, personal check
and credit card accepted) at Kingscote Mansion at 253 Bellevue Avenue where
guests will be given a program with a map and directions to each of the
gardens. There is no need to rush through the tour. While a leisurely pace
should allow completion of the tour in a few hours, admission is good for all
three days. The program map serves as the tour ticket and should accompany
guests at all time on each day when continuing to the properties not yet
visited.

At the entrance of each garden on the tour, there
will be hosts and hostesses to check off your location on the program map and
provide information about each garden.

Because the gardens are all private properties, they
are not easily accessible by wheelchair or stroller. Where there are paved
pathways in the gardens, strollers may be used, but strollers should not be
used on the lawns. Little ones and school age youngsters may accompany adults on
the tour free of charge. Pets are not invited into the private gardens.
