Newport Boutique Owner Schedules Salvador Dali Exhibit and the Work of Local Artist, Emily Flynn

The upscale vintage fashion
boutique, Maison DNA - The House of Designer Genes, invites the public to a
free art exhibit on Saturday, July 26, 2014, featuring rare music, memorabilia and assorted
works of Salvador Dali, curated from the private collection of Beth Laubi, a
Dali expert and the owner of the shop. Daliwood:
The Celebration of the Life & Art of Salvador Dali
opens at 7 p.m. at
Maison DNA, located at 64 Spring St. in Newport. Refreshments will be served.

The
event will also showcase the work of local artist, Emily Flynn, a

self-expressionist who is inspired by the structural concept of anatomy and

physiology, her feelings towards society, and the blend of what she finds

beautiful and compelling in the world and her appreciation of the female

figure.

“I
find inspiration through the human form and through life’s ups and downs,” said
Ms. Flynn. “These things all show through my paintings. Contrast is what it’s
all about.” Ms. Flynn, who is a self-taught artist through experience and her knowledge
of drawing from figure, is inspired by the works of Fafi, Egon Scheille, and
Jean Michelle Basquiat.

Ms.
Laubi has been a vintage clothing dealer and stylist for more than 10 years.

Earlier this year, she opened her shop to local female artists as an

opportunity for them to feature their work to the public. The Dali exhibit is a

continuation of her desire to provide the public a chance to experience the

work of one of the world’s renowned artists who is known as “a master of

illusion and perception—always looking at situations from an angle that’s

anything but ordinary.”

“When I decided to offer my boutique to local
female artists as a way to feature their work, I was stunned with the
originality of the work,” said Ms. Laubi. “I am delighted to share my Dali art
and memorabilia with others at this upcoming exhibit. People will be blown away
by our local artists’ work and with the unpredictable Salvatore Dali!”
