Newport Gallery Night

February Newport Gallery Night

The Newport
Gallery Organization will be kicking off their thirteenth season and the New
Year with Newport Gallery Night on Thursday February 14th! Venture
out to Bellevue Avenue, Spring Street, and Thames Street to see a variety of
galleries which exhibit Newport’s finest art.

This month,
the 20th Annual Fakes & Forgeries will open at Spring Bull
Gallery.  This is an unusual show where artists used a variety of dimensions to represent themselves in work from the Renaissance period to the modern day.
This is the artists’ opportunity to show off their own interpretations
of well-known and famous works.

The Redwood
Library will be showcasing an exhibition titled “To Arrive Where We Started” by
Peter Eudenbach.  It uses a variety of
ways to create a connection between the past and the present.  This particular exhibition relates to the
library’s mission to “perpetuate the dissemination of knowledge and the exploration
of ideas.”

Another
unique gallery is the (gallerie ellipsis), which is a space dedicated solely to
student artwork.  This is unlike any
other gallery in the state of Rhode Island and it will be open both the 14th
and 15th of February for the Rhode Island Scholastic Art Award
Portfolio Winners exhibit.
