Monday: Sign Up for Summer Reading, TMS Awards Night
Here's a look at what's going on around Newport today.
- from June 18-23 to benefit the Newport, Jamestown, Middletown and Portsmouth branches will support the event and there will be no charge to use the coin counting machines. Donations will be made to the Center based on how many coins are counted each day.
- Eighth Grade Awards Night at begins tonighta t 6 p.m. The event will showcase students' achievements of the eighth grade class.
- The 30th annual begins today at the The four-day event will host charter professionals, consumers and brokers.
- For the week of June 18, the Department of Public Service will continue begin paving and sidewalk work on Hunt Court. Work will continue on Thurston Avenue, Smith Avenue, Whitwell Avenue, South Baptist Street, Extension Street, Champlin Place and North Champlin Place.
- The 2012 Summer Reading Program at the Dream Big – READ, has begun. Children up to age 12 are eligible to participate. Register at the Children's Desk, over the phone or online. The program asks kids to read, or have read to them, six books over the summer and record their reading in a log. Get more information at the Kids Summer Reading website.
