Will Newport get pummeled this weekend with several inches of snow or will it be all rain?
One thing does remain certain — weather forecasts vary this morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Newport
The NWS says a couple inches of snow is possible, but other weather channels are predicting even less. Snow may mix with rain in the Newport area.
However, the NWS warns that the heavy wet snow could bring down tree limbs and result in scattered power outages.
Here is a look at the snowfall estimates for Newport as of 9 a.m. Friday:
- Channel 10: Several inches for higher elevations in state, little accumulation on coast
- NWS: A quarter of an inch to 2 inches
- Channel 12: Coating to an inch
