A body found in the Providence River Tuesday could be of Sunil Tripathi, 22, a former Brown University student who went missing in March, reports boston.com.
Providence police Lieutenant Joseph Donnelly reportedly said “it’s very, very possible” that the body could be Sunil Tripathi, but he added it was still unconfirmed.
The Tripathi family has remained optimistic for the student's return since he walked out of his apartment on the East Side of Providence on March 16, leaving his his cellphone, credit card, ID, and other personal items at home.
Sunil Tripathi was wrongly associated through social media as the Boston Marathon bombing suspect early Friday morning after his name was reportedly heard over the Boston Police radio. His mother, Judy Tripathi, described the long night before the bombers were identified as "heart-wrenching and exhausting."
“Unequivocally, we have known that neither individual suspected as responsible for the incident in Boston was Sunil,” said Akhil Tripathi, his father.
