Washington Square Schedule July 4, 2013 - Reading of the Declaration of Independence

https://www.facebook.com/events/380628072038048

Since 1776 the Sons of the Revolution have read the Declaration of Independence in Washington Square. Come celebrate the bravery of the founding fathers who pledged their “lives, fortunes and sacred honor” in the fight against tyranny of the English throne. The ceremony will include a 20 gun salute using the original canons by the Newport Artillery Company and a citywide ringing of bells. Come enjoy this truly patriotic and very family friendly event in the heart of Newport and hear the Declaration read from the very building it was first communicated to the citizens of Rhode Island in 1776, now 237 years ago!
