To date, more than 100 critics, have deemed "Moonrise Kingdom" “one of the year’s best pictures.“

It was selected as Movie of the Year at the American Film Institute Awards and Best Film at the Gotham Awards. The National Board of Revue voted it one of the Top Ten Independent Films. It also won a Boston Society of Film Critics award for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Use of Music in a Film; Best Production Design from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association; and Best Screenplay from the New York Film Critics Circle.

I really think this is one of the best movies I've ever seen, poetic, funny and somber at the same time. I've seen Moonrise the first time in France, where it was really appreciated, and the second time in Italy, where people seemed to not care about it. I guess it's about a production's business and this kind of movie-jewel is not evaluated for the real value. I apologize for my English. I was in Newport 2 years ago, the best vacation I've ever had. Gorgeous
