Fake Newport Folk Fest Tickets Showing up on craigslist

The tickets haven't even shipped yet, so watch out!

Fake tickets for the Newport Folk Festival are making the rounds on craigslist and event organizers are warning people not to get scammed.

"We can not stress this enough," event organizers said on their Twitter feed. "Do not buy tix from craigslist. We know they are fake."

How do they know they're fake?

"We have not shipped or lifted the print delay on ANY of our tickets," they said. "If you buy from craigslist, they're fake."

There are also reports of fake housing rentals in Newport that have been showing up on craigslist, too. One person tweeted back to the festival: "Don't find your NFF housing rental on CL. Scammed!"

That person managed to find a hotel room after realizing it was a scam early. But others won't be so lucky.

With the festival essentially sold out, demand for tickets is running high and scammers will take advantage of that demand to make a quick buck.
