The Artists' Ball, a tradition at the Newport Art Museum for decades, returns during the Museum's centennial year on Saturday, May 12, 2012 after a hiatus of several years and under the billing, "Established 1920 - Remixed 2012." The Museum is inviting everyone who values Rhode Island's creative community to join in this celebration. Co-chairs Alexander (Sandy) Nesbitt and Christopher (Chris) Wyllie are encouraging "alter egos, costumes and bold attire."
The Artists' Ball 2012 features DJ JR, burlesque performers Kristen Minksy & the TropiGals, hors d'oeuvres and sweets, complimentary signature cocktail and a cash bar. Sculptures by Rhode Island artists Jerold Ehrlich and Peter Diepenbrock will be exhibited during the Artists' Ball. A selection of large-scale original silkscreen prints by a variety of artists will be available in the Museum's Elizabeth Conklin Museum Shop during the event. The Artists' Ball runs from 8pm to midnight at the Museum's John N. A. Griswold House, 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI. Tickets cost $60 in advance and $80 at the door. The Artists' Ball is supported in part by Glorious Affairs, Island Wine and Spirits, The Cupcakerie and Costume SuperCenter. Reservations are strongly recommended as tickets are limited.
