Certainly Paul Watters knows better and I'm surprised that someone on your staff didn't pick it up but the building pictured is "The Waves" designed and built by architect John Russell Pope for himself in 1929 on the site of the former Lippett Castle. The house has an interesting history and is called "The Waves" not because of its location on a promontory surrounded by the ocean on three sides but because of the undulating pattern of the roof slates.

Another photograph of "The Waves" from sometime in the forties on a less chilly day. The woman on the lawn might be Jane Pope, J. R. Pope's daughter. But it also could be Mrs. Pell or her mother who owned the house for a period.
