King Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Sean C. King, was honored at a ceremony at the Elks Lodge.

BSA Troop 3 Newport recently celebrated the achievements of their newest Eagle Scout, Sean C. King. The Court of Honor and scout candle ceremony at the Elks Lodge was attended by friends, family and dignitaries; including US Senator Jack Reed, RI Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed, City Councilman Marco Camacho and Jack McCormack Site Manager, Fort Adams Trust, the beneficiary of Sean’s Leadership Project.

Sean’s goal for his eagle leadership project was to connect his scout troop with his community. He chose Fort Adams Trust because of his personal connection of living at Fort Adams and his love of military history. His project created more publicly accessible space. They built a new storage space and moved maintenance items out of the old jail.

Speaking on Sean’s behalf was Coach Frank Newsome of the Rogers High School football team. Master of Ceremonies was Glenn Gardiner, Troop 3 Newport’s scoutmaster who told the crowd about Sean’s thirst for adventure, leadership skills and kind heart.  The Invocation was given by Chaplain Jonathon Henderson and the Benediction was given by Reverend Matthew Davis.
