Have you Filled out the Newport Pedestrian Survey Yet?

The Commission has identified 25 locations throughout the city and will ask a pedestrian to identify if it's safe or unsafe. (Check out the attached video).

The Newport Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Advisory Commission is asking for citizen input to find out how pedestrians feel walking around the city.

The Commission has identified 25 locations throughout the city and will ask a pedestrian to identify if it's safe or unsafe. (Check out the attached video).

According to a release, The BPAC was established by the Newport City Council in 2013 to advise the Council on bicycle and pedestrian safety, conduct surveys and studies on bicycle and pedestrian matters, and facilitate citizen participation in such matters.

The BPAC will use data from this survey to identify the crosswalks where pedestrians feel the most unsafe, as well as features of locations that are perceived as safer. As the locations addressed in this survey represent both city and state roads, the BPAC will share the report and their recommendations with both city and state officials – who are working together to ensure the safety of all road users.

At the end of the survey, participants will have the option of providing contact information if they would like to be available for follow up.
