Expect Some Traffic During Fort Adams 10 Mile Run this Sunday

The race starts at 8 a.m. and ends around 11 a.m.

The Fort Adams 10 Mile Run is this Sunday and no road closures are planned, though there might be some traffic delays.

Newport Police said in a release that there will be detail officers who "may hold traffic at cross streets along the route," but "there should be minimal traffic impacts."

The race starts at 8 a.m. and ends around 11 a.m.

The course begins inside Fort Adams to Harrison Ave. west to Ocean Drive to south onto Bellevue Ave. then west on Ruggles Ave., to Wickham Road, returning onto Harrison Ave. and reentering Fort Adams Drive.

This year marks the second annual Newport 10 Miler, which benefits the Fort Adams Trust.

A portion of proceeds from this event will benefit the Fort Adams Trust, a 501 (C) (3) non-profit with a mission to protect and promote the historic places and public spaces at the gateway to Narragansett Bay and Newport. This includes directing and supporting the stabilization, restoration, maintenance and operation of Fort Adams as a public historic site.

Parking is available at Fort Adams.
