Clean Ocean Access Water Quality Report is Out

The detailed report is based on 2,297 water samples collected at seven popular swimming locations and two places where bacteria are likely to originate along the Aquidneck Island shoreline.

Clean Ocean Access's has released its much-awaited water quality report and it shows that sources of enterococci bacteria continue to affect water quality, though levels were lower in 2012 and 2013 due in part to less rain in both years.

The detailed report is based on 2,297 water samples collected at seven popular swimming locations and two places where bacteria are likely to originate along the Aquidneck Island shoreline.

The report shows that Easton's Bay locations have the best water quality during non-summer months while Marine Beach has elevated readings through the calendar year.

Newport Harbor locations have elevated samples at Kings Park Swim Area and at Elm Street Pier and Van Zandt Pier.
