Breakers Mansion Selected As Monopoly Token

Nearly 4,500 people throughout Rhode Island voted to select Breakers as the first token for a special edition Rhode Island Monopoly game.

A version of the Breakers mansion will soon fit between two fingertips.

The landmark was selected to join five other game pieces on the board of a special edition Rhode Island Monopoly game, Hasbro announced Wednesday.

The Breakers was chosen by voters as the favorite of 14 contenders of iconic Rhode Island locations, including the Newport Pell Bridge, the State House, the Superman Building, WaterFire, the Towers in Narragansett, Haven Brothers, the State Seal “Hope,” The Independent Man, a Quahog, Mr. Potato Head, a Sailboat, Roger Williams, and the Block Island Lighthouse.

Nearly 4,500 people throughout Rhode Island voted to select Breakers as the token, which will be accompanied by five other pieces.

The game is being released in honor of Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s 20th anniversary in February.

The Rhode Island edition of the game will be available starting online in December. The game will be released in late February at CVS stores around the state, the hospital gift shop and at the Toys“R”Us in Warwick. Games will retail for $35.
