John W. Geoghegan Obituary - O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home

John W. Geoghegan, 68, of Prospect Hill Street, Newport, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Newport Hospital, unexpectedly. He was the husband of Frances M. (Andrade) Geoghegan

Born in Newport, May 1, 1945. He was a son of the late Edward F. and Bridie T. (Teehan) Geoghegan.

John was a graduate of De La Salle Academy, Class of 1964 and the University of Rhode Island, Class of 1968. John worked as an accountant for over 45 years. He was a longtime member of the Newport Yacht Club and was once a participant in the Newport to Bermuda Race.

Besides his wife Fran of 14 years he leaves his children, Kerry Schultz and her husband Chris of Abington, MA, Erin Matusak and her husband Vic of Towson, MD, Katie Tetrault and her husband Josh of Natick, MA, his step children, Nick Mills of Austin, TX, Robin Figiel and her husband Nick of Chicago, IL, Peter Mills of Oklahoma City, OK and 5 grandchildren, his brother Edward M. Geoghegan and his wife Lorena of Tiverton, RI, four nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport at 10am. Burial in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown, RI.
