Many Newport businesses and government facilities will be closed today in celebration of Memorial Day. Below is a listing of what’s open and what’s closed today.

The post office will be closed all day today. There will be no mail delivery today.

Trash Pick-up
Trash pickup will be delayed one day this week.

Stop and Shop will be open and operate under regular hours.

All branches are closed

Athletic Facilities

  • Newport Athletic Club is open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

  • Bridge to Fitness is open from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. No group exercise classes.

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule in observance of Labor Day. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will apply to all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys. View the schedules here.
