Newport 375 Parade Starts Saturday Morning

Newport's 375th Anniversary celebration includes a parade this Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

Police said the Parade will proceed south on Broadway from the One Mile Corner, parade units will be staging on Broadway and the surrounding side streets in the morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Broadway will be closed to traffic north and south bound beginning at 10:30AM from the One Mile Corner to Washington Sq.

The parade starts at 11:00am. Some of the groups will also use the sidewalk area in front of Jesus Savior to step off. The review stand will be at Washington Square.

After the parade there is a community cookout at the Quaker Meeting house on Marlborough Street. There is plenty of room on Broadway to line up.

About 40 to 50 groups are expected to participate in the parade.

Festivities will take place on the front of the Friends Meeting House [Corner of Marlborough and Farewell Streets.]
