Rough Point, located on Bellevue Avenue, is the oceanfront home of Doris Duke, philanthropist and art collector. The house  was built between 1887 and 1891. When James Buchanan Duke died in 1925, he left the house to his only daughter, who was 12-years-old at the time. Rough Point continues to be decorated in Ms. Duke's style, with French furniture, European art, Chinese porcelain and Turkish carpets. Small intimate Group Tours are available April to November and last about an hour. The entire first floor is open to tours and on the second floor, Doris Duke's bedroom and special exhibit galleries are open for viewing.

The grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and have sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.  They are open to the public.

To schedule a tour call Liz Spoden at 401-846-4152.
