Tonight's event was great. It was good to see more people becoming involved with not only the NAACP but the community. It was nice to meet new members of the NAACP and to hear what exciting steps are being planned for the near future.
The night's MC, Monty Scott did and excellent job with the night's MLK Jr. Memorial Ceremony. Earl Smith, Assistant Dean at URI delivered a speech that went beyond the dream of MLK Jr.
Veronica Mays' spiritual rendition of Lift Every Voice could be heard from every corner of the room. The facts of MLK Jr. questioned by Tracy to a board of trivia seekers left the audience with little known facts about MLK Jr. Monty, Rich, and Adrian didn't let a question go by unanswered and answered correctly. The blessings from Minister Walter Smoothers started the evening of events. The words spoken from the President of the NAACP, Joyce Williams, praised the night of events and all that made the night a success. Tonight's ceremony that concluded with a vast array of refreshments was truly exciting and I cannot wait for the next NAACP event to bring my family to.
