Author Pam Belluck and Timothy Lepore, MD will be at Newport Public Library, June 23rd at 2 pm together to discuss Pelluck's new book: Island Practice:Cobblestone Rash, Underground Tom and Other Adventures of a Nantucket Doctor. The book chronicles the daily life of Dr. Lepore of Nantucket. The doctor, a general surgeon, is the head of Nantucket Cottage Hospital and has been in practice on the island for over 30 years. While he has treated his share of celebrities while they have been visiting the island the core of his medicial practice are with the year-rounders. Island Practice takes the readers deeply into a world-an island-where life can sometimes seem to be forgotten by the rest of the world! Ms Belluck has been with the New York Times for over 15 years and is a health and medical writer for the newpaper. She is a former Fulbright Scholarship winner. This event is open to the public. Island Practice will be available for purchase/signing courtesy of Island Books

More About Newport Public Library
The Newport Public Library offers a wide variety of books, audio books, CDs, videos, classes, computers and events. Wireless Internet access is available, as is printing, copying and faxing.
Group work areas are scattered throughout the facility. In addition, there's a quiet study room, three meeting rooms, a children's special program room, and a room for local literacy volunteers. A variety of programs, classes and workshops are offered for kids, teens and adults.
A large children's department is to the left of the front entrance. Magazines, electronic media and a computer study room are in the center, and fiction and nonfiction selections are on the other side of the building.
In addition, free and discount admission passes are available to several Newport, Providence and Boston-area museums.
