Tickets are now on sale for The Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff, which runs from November 23rd to 30th. As “the audience doesn’t so much see the ballet as experience it, feeling like guests at an elite and roaming party, moving with the action from one breathtaking scene to another,” (Providence Journal) audience sizes for both productions are limited. More About Rosecliff
Rosecliff was commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, and was modeled after Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. By the home's completion in 1902, it reportedly cost $2.5 million.
The impressive mansion has been used in many films, including The Great Gatsby, True Lies and Amistad.
Rosecliff's last private owners, Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Monroe, of New Orleans, gave the house, its furnishings and an endowment to the Preservation Society in 1971.
