More About Museum of Newport History at Brick Market
This award-winning museum provides an introduction to the Newport area's history as well as the beauty of its architecture. Run by the Newport Historical Society, this institution also offers visitors a look at the stories of the people who made Newport one of America's greatest cities.
Exhibits include James Franklin's printing press, colonial silver, paintings, objects of daily life and more. The exhibits highlight those who worked and played in Newport, the 17th century English settlers who started the community, Newport's Goddard-Townsend craftsmen, and the wealthy, the artists, the writers, and the architects who frequented the city during the Gilded age. Year-round residents are also highlighted.
The museum and shop are located in the 1762 Brick Market.
