We had a great turn out for our Second Annual Post Parade Litter Pick up on Sunday.
There were over thirty participants through Team Brick Alley and this year we were joined by The Newport Clean City Campaign and the Newport Clean Energy Commission. Those groups, by the way, were the ones responsible for placing the recycle bins all over town for the parade as well.
Our group spread out to cover the area from Mary Street up to City Hall. The NCCC and NCEC reached out to other businesses along the parade route and got a very positive response.
It was also great to see the street sweeper machine out this morning as well, so kudos to the city for that.
We had more than 200 pounds of trash/recyclables returned to Brick Alley at the end of the two hour event, and I am sure there was much much more in the other areas as well.
Thank you very much to all of the businesses and individuals that participated in the clean up. It was great to see so many people that care about our great little city!
Happy St. Patrick's Day

Although we are not fans of the parade the team is to be commended on the clean up. I was down town at 5:30AM and you could not see any evidence of the crowds or the debris that was their late Saturday.

Thank you to Matt and "The Brick" for all their work cleaning our city. They are to be praised for the cleaning of the street and sidewalk in front of the restaurant every day, also. There is also a small army of people who on their daily walks carry bags and pick up litter. As the says goes, "it takes a village".....to help keep Newport clean.
Waste Management gets overlooked sometimes too....none of us could do without them.
