Django Unchained (2012) Movie Review The Plot: The plot focuses on a slave named Django (performed by Jamie Foxx). The film takes place during 1858, three years before the Civil War. A German bounty hunter named Dr. Shultz (played by Christoph Waltz) befriends Django. Along the way, the Doctor and Django get back at slave masters while also attempting to save Django's wife from the menacing plantation owner Calvin Candie (portrayed by Leonard DiCaprio).
The Cast: Samuel L. Jackson delivers a phenomenal performance, stealing the show with his hilarious portrayal of Stephen, Calvin Candie's loyal house slave. Leonardo DiCaprio plays a great sinister antagonist. Jamie Foxx is fantastic as Django. The audience will find themselves rooting for this very likable character. Christoph Waltz is charming in his thrill seeking bounty hunter role.
The Director: Quentin Tarantino makes you feel multiple emotions: anger, laughter, sadness and excitement all in one great film. Tarantino has a unique way of telling a story in a category all his own. Django Unchained is a totally new way of looking at the history of slavery and Western genres.
