Chef Keith Goes Hollywood

We have a new record: Posts on consecutive days. The last one got a bit long, so I will spare you on this one. Today Chef Keith Bartlett and I had the opportunity to head up to Providence and be a part of the Fox TV morning show, The Rhode Show. The good folks over at the Newport convention and visitors Bureau (Andrea and Katherine) asked us a few weeks back if we would be interested in such an adventure. It was a resounding yes. For two long time Aquidneck Island residents it was a bit ambitious though. We would after all, have to leave the island. The decision of what to prepare during our cooking demonstration was an easy one: PORTUGUESE LITTLENECKS !!!. Not only is it one of our most popular recipes, it is something that just about anyone can prepare at home, and most importantly it is a recipe that was near and dear to the heart of our former chef the Late Gary Mathias. Chefs Keith and Gary worked very closely over the course of almost twenty five years together, Gary would man the controls for the lunch shift and turn it over to Keith at night.

The crew at The Rhode show welcomed us with open arms right from the start, much to the relief of two TV rookies. PT Barnum would be proud of the circus that takes place up there every morning. There were girl scouts, Hot 106 DJ Diana Cruz, some ladies involved in a charity running event, and of course us Brick Alley Boys.  We were guided though our spots on the show by Will Gilbert and Michaela Johnson, who made everything easy for us. Keith and I were happy to provide Rhode Islanders with know how to prepare a fun summer dish for their friends and family. Will also gave me the oppertunity to explain and promote local agriculture in the state and Southeastern ,MA

We had a blast, and hope to be invited back in the future. Maybe we will divulge the secret behind our Ahi Tuna Sliders and Blackberry Sangria!

Thanks for reading. I promise nothing new tomorrow. See you down at The Brick soon!
