The City of Newport will set off the traditional fireworks display on Wednesday, July 4 over Newport harbor, with a rain date of Thursday, July 5.
The fireworks show begins after dark, which is anticipated to be at approximately 9:20 p.m. and lasts approximately 25 minutes.
The location of the shoot will allow only extremely limited public access, so best viewing will be anywhere along Newport Harbor, facing west.
Public restrooms will be open at King Park, the Harbormaster’s building at Perrotti Park and at the Mary Street Parking Lot until after the fireworks are completed. Portable restrooms will be available at Storer Park, Perrotti Park and King Park.
Rain cancellations will be made after 6 p.m.

So the fireworks will be launched from Rose Island? They're usually from Ft. Adams, but can't b/c of America's Cup remnants, right? Just trying to plan out where to go to get some good photos. =)

Hi Kevin. Yes, you are correct. The fireworks will be shot again from Fort Adams according to the fort's Web site - http://www.fortadams.org/Calenders/2012%20calendar.htm. There was some confusion since there is a Fourth of July event on Rose Island, but the fireworks will be launched from the fort. Hope this helps!
