What Should Go Here: Former Coldstone For Lease
What do you think should fill this empty storefront?
Several businesses have come and gone in the Stop & Shop plaza on Bellevue Avenue, with Coldstone recently joining the ranks.
The vacant business is anchored by Stop & Shop and Radio Shack, and has a large "For Lease" sign in the window, welcoming new business prospects.
What do you think should fill the empty storefront?

I loved Boston Chicken, but keep in mind that one of these has been in this space before, It doesn't seem that food places have had any luck in this location.

How about Democratic Headquarters? We all love Obama, right? After all, without him we wouldn't be able to have this fun conversation about what to do with failed businiesses that "YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT", would we?

How about a Community Activist center, where people can go and complain about the raw deal they're getting because there's still a Republican alive somewhere in Newport that's a racist and homophobe? Who knows? Someone hanging out there could someday be another 'great' president!

How about an unemployment office? There'll be a big need for additional space for all the increased unemployment lines after everyone re-elects the president, and makes it too expensive for a REAL business to pay the rent and healthcare costs in that ideal location. Or am I the only one who has noticed that trend? (Really, this is just too easy.) Maybe it was my education at Rogers!

MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGH!
A French doctor says 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.'
A German doctor says 'That is nothing; we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.
The Russian doctor says 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.'
An American doctor, not to be outdone, says 'You guys are way behind. We recently took a man with no brains out of Illinois, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work.

There is already too many bars around here. For it to be such a small island I can't believe there are so many bars and liquor stores.

Yeah, all we need in Newport is another place to get drunk.

How about a local Pizza Hut so many people living in the southern end of Newport can get Pizza Hut delivered.

If you like chain restaurants you should move to Warwick, you'll get great service there.
Personally, I prefer Pasta Beach, Via Via, Nikolas, Calzones from Mama Louisa, pretty much anything OTHER than the nitrate and preservative soaked crap that comes out of Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, etc... Not to mention those places pay their employees trash, and take money out of the community.

The pizza place that was on the corner was extremely expensive, it's a no wonder it didn't last. Not to mention the pizza was so-so.

Not to mention that they named the place "Cosa Nostra"....nice way to alienate any Italian-Americans that might potentially order from you. It was owned by Middle Easterners and I wonder how they would feel if someone opened up a falafel shop and named it "Al Quaeda" or "Hamas"....
Good riddance to "Costa Nostra", it made me very happy to know that this business failed miserably.

Costra Nostra was intended to appeal to Salve Regina students. I understand how you feel regarding the dumb name, I am surprised the City of Newport approved that name.
But the fact is a large portion of Salve students come from NY and New Jersey, and many are of Italian American descent. They love "the Jersey shore," "Sopranos" and the machismo bs image of Italian Americans. Its their parent's fault.
The owners of "Costra Nostra" knew their audience. They just didn't understand how long it would take a business to establish itself, how saturated the Newport pizza market is, and what a losing location the Stop & Shop plaza is.

I would like to see a good Greek or Mid Eastern restaurant. After living in Brooklyn, I miss mousaka, spinach pie and falafel.
