What's Open and Closed this 4th of July

Here's a look at what's open and closed this Wednesday, July 4.

 

Many Newport businesses and government facilities will be closed today in celebration of Memorial Day. Below is a listing of what’s open and what’s closed today.

U.S. Post Office — The post office will be closed all day today. There will be no mail delivery today.

Newport Town Hall — Closed all day

Newport Public Library — Closed all day

Edward King House Senior Center — Closed all day

Grocery Stores

  • Stop & Shop on Bellevue and Connell Highway will be open and operate under regular hours.

Restaurants and Retail Stores

  • Restaurants and stores will be open at their own discretion. Please call ahead.

Transportation

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Wednesday, June 4, 2012, in observance of Independence Day. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will apply to all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys. View the schedules.  here

State Offices

Federal Offices, Stock Market

  • Most federal offices will not operate today. The stock market is also closed today.
