What Newport Business Were You Sad to See Close in 2012?

In a city like Newport, businesses come and go all the time. Tell us which ones you were sad to see go in the comments section below.

With several business openings around town, 2012 was certainly a busy year for Newport.

Over the past year, places like El Perrito, Andria Bird Bride and Hawaiian Jim's opened their doors for business, while others closed for good.

As our What Should Go Here? feature shows, there are still plenty of empty storefronts in the city.

TELL US: What Newport business(es) were you sad to see close in 2012? Share with us in the comments section below.

Ah, Freaky Burrito. It had been in decline for a while, so the death blow wasn't really s surprise, but I miss it, nonetheless.

Freaky burrito was doing fine - he was bought out by the new landlord so the renovations and modifications of the Colonial tavern could proceed. still I miss them!

Salas'? You must be kidding! It may have been the local cheap eatery back in the day but the food was a nightmare and it was dirty. The locals who used to think it was great either died or outgrew Oriental Spaghetti. The truth is one one went there anymore.

Ys, definitely Salas and there was a mid eastern restaurant on Thames in a basement space but I don't remember it's name. Good falafel sandwiches.

Walked into the Freaky Burrito and sat at the counter only to be ignored, so after a few minutes we left.. with customer service like that not shocked the business failed

Maybe not in 2012, but the small business I miss of all time was Mills Pharmacy on Thames Street which closed years ago. The owner, Wesley Mills, used to give free prescriptions to the local poor. Does anybody remember this business? If so, write me at richardarthursayles@gmail.com and let me know.

I knew Puerini's was for sale, but it's actually closed? Too bad. Their website is still up, but so is Sambar's.
