Wednesday: Motivational Workshop and City Council Workshop

A look at what's happening in and around Newport today.

 
  1. The Salvation Army is holding a free Life Skills workshop on community resources, goal setting, and healthy cooking on a budget from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  2. Life Coach and Motivational Speaker Suzi Nance will lead an interactive workshop titled “Jump Start Your Life in 2012” at the Firehouse Theater at 6 p.m. The workshop is open to anyone with a goal to change an aspect of their life in 2012. The cost of the workshop is $35. For more information, call 849-4220.
  3. The Newport City Council will hold a workshop regarding the Lawton Valley Water Treatment Plant Design and the Station 1 Water Treatment Plant at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
  4. Empire Tea & Coffee will host its weekly Chess Group at 7:30 p.m.
  5. Aquidneck Island's Relay for Life  will kick-off its 2012 campaign tonight at 6:45 p.m. at Gaudet Middle School. The event, which brings people together to walk around the school track in remembrance of those who have had cancer and raises money for the American Cancer Society, will take place on May 18. This initial meeting is to gather those who are interested in volunteering or participating in the event. For more information, contact Kerry Seibert at mzkerry@aol.com.
