Wednesday: Casting Call and Comedy Show

A look at what's happening in and around Newport today.

 
  1. The Bit Players will perform a special Family-friendly Improv Show tonight at 7 p.m. at the Firehouse Theater. Admission is $10 per adult, $8 per senior, and $5 per student. Non-alcoholic refreshments are included in the price or BYOB for those of age.
  2. StageRightRI and William Heydt are holding a casting call for upcoming historical painting reenactments of Newportant people at the Edward King House from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight. All are welcome to attend. Production volunteers, researchers, historians, costume makers, make-up artists, hairdressers, and more volunteers are needed as well.
  3. Three historic homes will be on display for Candlelight Tours tonight from 4 to 7 p.m. as part of Christmas in Newport. The homes that will be open are located at 25 Catherine Street, 32 Division Street, and 31 Rhode Island Avenue. Admission is $3 at the front door of each home.
  4. Newport Hospital will host a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group at 7 p.m. in the MacLaurin living room.
  5. The Middletown Public Library will host a Winter Wonderland Storytime and Craft at 2 p.m. for children ages 3 and up. The program is free, but registration is required and can be done by calling 846-1573.
