Vote Newport for Happiest Seaside Town
Coastal Living magazine has named Newport as a finalist for "Happiest Seaside Town".
Newport has been named a finalist in Coastal Living’s second annual list for the “Happiest Seaside Town.”
Nine other towns are up against Newport to be named one of the top places to live on the coast.
Newport is described as a historic town “of deep water harbors” and “a wonderful variety of retail, hotels, and dining, with Bellevue Avenue, one of the hippest shopping districts.”
Finalists are places Coastal Living has named a “Dream Town” over the past 15 years and also include Facebook nominations.
You can vote hourly through Feb. 28 here.
The winner will be announced in the June 2013 issue.

A "dream city" where residents don't even walk their dogs at night for fear of crack heads, gangs and the homeless? Is this a joke?

This must be another one of chafee's jokes?
Maybe in Newport county but this is an insult to most seaside towns that are truly happy friendly and honest.

Did they ask all the drunks and druggies and homeless? Happy Seaside City........maybe back when the mansions were built. Take off the rose color glasses and look closer at Newport. It is mainly low income to poor families now. Wow.

The saddest of seaside towns!
“a wonderful variety of retail, hotels, and dining, with Bellevue Avenue, one of the hippest shopping districts.”
Really? Hip? A great place to find a pair of outdated, pastel Jack Rogers, enamel bracelets mass produced in China (watch out for lead content) or how about all those mansion stores who sell all that ridiculous crap labeled "educational" or "museum reproduction" so they can escape paying taxes (once again). Ugh - the only thing that rings "happy" about this seaside town is seeing it in your rear-view mirror.

Have you walked the streets lately. Dog crap on the sidwalks and trash everywhere. Filthy trash. Newport has no respect anymore. Dirtiest Seaside Town maybe! As soon as I get a buyer for my house, I'm out of this corrupt state. Goodbye "Pigport" ...
