Venture Out to Block Island [VIDEO]

Revisit your younger days when you hopped in the car, started the engine and drove off in search of something fun. You can travel from Newport to the Block Island Ferry in less than an hour, enjoy the ride across the waves and feel like you've gone to ano

You're in Newport, surrounded by shopping, beaches and world-class tourist attractions. Why leave? Because in 60 minutes or less, you can be riding a ferry to a hidden oasis: Block Island.

Block Island is located in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 13 miles south of the coast of Rhode Island and is separated from the mainland by the Block Island Sound.

Visitors can get there quickly and affordably by taking either the traditional ferry or the new high-speed ferry from a number of points in the area, the most popular being Point Judith or as many know it, Galilee.

There is so much to do on the island, that some people decide to make a longer trip out of it and stay in one of the many historical Victorian hotels and inns that the island offers.

You'll encounter beautiful beaches, tons of places to shop and eat, live entertainment and plenty of gorgeous sights to see by either walking, biking or even renting a moped.

Think you wanna "Take a trip on the Block Island Ferry," as the jingle suggests? Check out the ferry schedule here and the island's official tourism website here.

Have fun!
