Teen Arrested for Threats Charge; Man Charged with Drug Distribution
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
A 15-year-old Newport girl was arrested around 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, for disorderly threats and use of tobacco by a minor charges.
Police were dispatched to her residence for a report of a disorderly juvenile refusing to go inside. When police arrived, the girl was swearing and yelling at her mother, reports said. She was also smoking a cigarette.
The girl reportedly threatened her mother in front of police and slapped her.
- Andre T. Dupree, 21, of 117 Lake Erie St., Middletown, was arrested around 9:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, for two drug distribution charges. On April 4, 2012, police made a controlled cocaine purchase from Dupree. He turned himself in on an active warrant.
- James R. Veazie, 43, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 1:19 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, for a violating a no contact order charge.
