He is not wanted on any charges.

According to Sgt. Christopher Hayes, the man has knocked on residents' doors in the Point area and his activity has been reported as suspicious.

As of right now, he is a person of interest, Hayes said.

According to the Knowing Newport message board, the man’s “recent daytime/nighttime activities in and around homes in The Point, over the last month, have raised concerns.”

He has been seen riding a mountain bike and wearing a black backpack.

Theft of parcels continued Thursday and Friday. Not sure who is behind them. The NextDoor private social media system (now in use in 3,000 neighborhoods in the U.S.) now has 140+ Point residents highly connected as a "virtual neighborhood watch. If you are on the Point or have a friend on the Point, they can join via https://nextdoor.com/invite/ee409e1c0bbc88280b47 OR if you want to establish a virtual neighborhood watch for your own neighborhood, go to nextdoor.com/starbucks/?r=9fbf0

I think a guy going to many houses on the point and snooping around, while on a nice mountain bike, but acting suspiciously is worth a photo and some investigation. It also is a deterrent to anyone else that may be looking into homes and who may or may not be home that the neighborhood is looking out for one another. I don't think it is a bad thing to have your eyes out for your neighbors.
