Rebecca Martland, 24, of Newport, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 21, on a leaving the scene of an accident charge.

Reports said Martland turned herself in to detectives investigating a hit and run that occurred last week.

Martland came to the station with legal counsel, police officials said.

She was arraigned in district court and released.

Other arrests 

Brian K. LaFleur, 33, of Newport, was arrested around 6:10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, for domestic simple assault, simple assault and resisting arrest charges.

Shawn P. Ferris, 39, of 143 Third St., Newport, was arrested around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, for three active warrants for failure to appear in court.
