Patch Picks: 5 Great Newport Bands
These five local bands draw big crowds and guarantee a good time.
- The Ravers- This reggae band needs no introduction to most as they’ve been drawing huge crowds around town for more than 20 years.
- Honky Tonk Knights- If you’ve yet to see this roots country and rockabilly blues band, then chances are you don’t get out much. It seems they can be seen playing just about any night of the week (sometimes twice) around town at places like the Gas Lamp Grille, Perro Salado, The Pier and many more.
- Chelley, Bill, and Dyl- The broad range of this group includes blues, jazz, and country, and is always entertaining, especially with lead singer Chelley’s incredibly smooth but powerful voice.
- Those Guys- This Newport based band draws big crowds from across the state, from bars to weddings with their high energy performances which cover everyone from Kings of Leon and Coldplay to The Cure and The Violent Femmes.
- Abbey Rhode- This Beatles cover band plays every corner of town from Sunday brunch at Ocean Cliff to the rooftop at The Viking to Easton’s Beach, all the while drawing hundreds, if not thousands, of loyal followers.
