Newport Police Log: Woman Arrested for Drug Possession and Larceny Charges

Dianne M. Dacosta, 56, of 22 College Lane, Dartmouth, MA, was arrested around 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, on drug possession and larceny charges.
Police responded to Newport Grand Casino for a report of a woman stealing from parked cars. Security had her detained.
Security guards told police they saw Dacosta checking door handles and removing items from cars.
Dacosta said she took loose change from a car. When police checked her purse, they reportedly found three pill bottles with different kinds of pills in each. None matched the labels. She said she had a prescription for the 11 Valium pills, but could not provide documentation.
Police also found one Topamax pill, 92 Ibuprofen, one Cyclobenzaprine pill, eight Fexofenadine pills, four and a half Hydrochorothiazide pills, seven Lorazepam pills, and two Adderall pills.
One woman whom Dacosta reportedly stole from told police she was missing a credit card, gift card, employee ID, sunglasses, and bank slips.
Police recovered some of the items.
Woman Arrested on Trespassing, Assault, and Shoplifting Charges
Jacqueline C. Glassie, 21, of 7 High, Jamestown, was arrested around 9:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, for shoplifting, assault and trespassing charges.
Police responded to Rolling Green Apartments for a report of an unknown woman who walked into an apartment and would not leave.
The resident said he was in his apartment with his family when Glassie walked in saying she was there to see her boyfriend. Police said she appeared intoxicated.
When Glassie refused to leave, she was arrested for trespassing.
Police also linked Glassie to a previous shoplifting incident at Wellington Square Liquors from earlier that day.
Newport Man Arrested on Assault Charge
Jason R. Giacin, 39, of 23 Park Holm, Newport, was arrested around 2:41 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, for a domestic assault charge.
Police responded to Park Holm for a report of a domestic assault outside the ome.
The victim told police she was at her mother’s house when they started arguing. She said her uncle got involved when she wouldn’t leave and pushed her towards the door.
She had no visible injuries and Giacin was arrested.
Warrant Arrest
- Ronald H. Hill, 24, of 31 Greeley, Providence, was arrested around 8:05 p.m. Thusday, Dec. 15, for an active warrant for failure to appear for an arraignment.
