Newport Police Log: Weapons Charge, Noise Violation
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Samuel W. Whitmire, 37, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, for a weapons possession charge.
Police were dispatched to Broadway for a report that Whitemire was walking around with a knife in his coat.
He was found at 15 Meeting St. Police searched him and found an eight-inch kitchen knife hidden in his sleeve, reports said.
Noise violation
- Harry F. Scales, 22, of 5 Sylvan St., Newport, was cited around 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, for a noise violation.
